WORKSHOPS: The Cohousing Timeline Game™
The Cohousing Timeline Game Workshop™ is an intensive, FUN, interactive way to learn about what it takes to develop a cohousing project and help your group map its journey from dream to reality! The workshop is led by professional facilitators who are knowledgeable and experienced in the process and complexities of developing a cohousing project. This workshop is custom tailored to the specific needs and objectives of YOUR group.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE
The objective of the workshop is to produce a visual flowchart or “timeline” showing the sequence and interrelationships of tasks in the development process. There is no “correct” or “ideal” timeline. The variables are immense, so much so, that every project is unique and every project will have a unique process and timeline. The professional facilitator provides the insight and knowledge needed to guide the group in planning their path to joyous, sustainable community. Participation in the Cohousing Timeline Game should result in
- Improved understanding and appreciation for the complexities and process of developing not just one’s own home, but an entire community – in both the social AND physical sense
- Reduced “risk aversion” and opportunities to grow social equity among the membership

The Cohousing Timeline Game™ was originally developed by Bruce Coldham, Architect (©1991) to help cohousing groups understand the development process. The right to use his materials was obtained by Cohousing Collaborative, LLC in 2006. Cohousing Collaborative have made substantial updates and modifications to incorporate current approaches and procedures in the development industry.
The Cohousing Timeline Game Workshop™ is part of a series of outreach educational materials and workshops that Cohousing Collaborative have developed in order to assist community groups on their journey from dream to reality of joyous, sustainable community. The workshop provides a hands-on learning experience for understanding cohousing project development. The workshop is specifically designed to reflect the current trend in the cohousing towards Joint Venture or Developer-Initiated approaches.
